The Marriott Hotel consists of a 42-story structure (River Tower) and a 21-story tower (Quarter Tower) with a four-story structure connecting the two towers. The building footprint takes an entire city block inside the French Quarter of New Orleans. In the summer of 2005, Hurricane Katrina & Hurricane Rita caused significant damage to the hotel.
The window replacement project included replacing all 899 guest room windows in both towers and curtain wall windows on the Penthouse and lower building with crews on the exterior of the building using swing stages in conjunction with crews on the interior of the building. Because New Orleans is in a hurricane zone, new hurricane rated impact windows were used. The windows were designed for wind speeds of 130mph and design wind pressure of 107 pounds per square foot in the corner zones. TCE generated specifications, oversaw bidding and provided quality assurance and contract admonition throughout construction. The project was completed on time and within budget.
