Michael joined Tadjer-Cohen-Edelson Associates in 1984. He is a principal in the firm and provides overall direction of the Repair and Restoration Division. Michael provides designs for repairs, waterproofing, and restoration of apartment and condominium projects, mixed-use complexes, commercial office and government buildings, retail, hospitality, industrial, and civic institutions. Projects consist of structural steel, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed and post-tensioned concrete, and wood.
Michael provides structural analysis, investigation, and evaluation of existing structures. He has provided extensive designs of building repairs, restoration, historic preservation, waterproofing, and the renovation of complete building envelopes, roofing, masonry facades, garages, plazas, window replacement, waterproofing, expansion joints, balcony and exterior conventional and post-tensioned concrete repairs; in addition to steel structure repairs, garage, and corrosion damage repairs. He has evaluated all types of roofing systems including low-slope systems such as built-up asphalt, built-up coal tar, EPDM, modified bitumen, metal panel, hot rubberized asphalt, PVC, TPO, KEE and SPF, and steep-slope systems such as standing seam metal, terra cotta tile, asphalt shingle, wood shake, slate and synthetic slate among others. Michael uses a variety of evaluation techniques for various roofing systems including infrared thermography, laboratory testing of materials, test cuts for verification of construction, and moisture meter analysis.
Michael is the current International President of the International Concrete Repair Institute, and past-President of the Baltimore-Washington, DC Chapter. He has written articles involving the repair and restoration of structures. Michael has served as the chairman of multiple ICRI National committees, including the ICRI Post Tension Repair Committee, and ICRI Masonry Committee which is in the process of preparing a Guideline for Repair of Masonry Structures. In addition, Michael was involved in preparing the Guideline for Evaluation of Post Tensioned Structures, Guideline of Repair of Post Tensioned Structures and Guideline for Evaluation of Masonry Structures.
