The Hyatt Regency Hotel located at 400 New Jersey Avenue takes up an entire city block in the Capitol Hill area. The 10-story S shaped building consists of a conventional reinforced concrete frame with brown brick facade and was constructed around 1974. The main entrance leads to the open atrium which houses the lobby, restaurant, bar, and meeting areas. The atrium roof consists of a series of stepped flat roofs with sloped skylights between each level.
TCE recently completed the atrium skylight and roof replacement project. The scope of work included replacing the original acrylic skylights with new acrylic skylights and replacing the original built up roof and flashings with a single ply PVC roof system. The window replacement project is in progress. TCE worked with the owner, window manufacturer, and contractor to select a window system to improve sound transmission and enhance the architectural aesthetics of the building.
