In 2011, deterioration and bowing of the precast facade panels necessitated stabilization and repairs to several panel connections that were in danger of falling off the building. TCE worked with the hotel and contractor to coordinate the facade repair schedule around the various outdoor patio seating areas and public park areas adjacent to the hotel to minimize disruption and covering with overhead protection during the busy summer months. In addition, the repair schedule was coordinated by TCE in a way that the hotel pool deck could remain open to hotel guests during the warmer weather months. The hotel hosted Major League Baseball teams during baseball season, and panel demolition and saw-cutting were closely coordinated with the hotel engineering and front desk manager to be done at times and in locations that would not disturb the players. TCE setup and coordinated test demolition on various floors at the start of the project to allow the hotel to determine the extent of noise transmission throughout the hotel. This set a standard that the hotel could use to place VIP guests and players in rooms well out of the range of the project noise. This careful planning allowed the hotel to keep this important business during and after the noisy facade project.
