The Battelle-Tompkins building was originally constructed in 1926 as a library and has grown throughout the years with multiple additions. The building is now home to the College of Arts and Sciences. Major renovations were required to this historic building. TCE’s services included load analysis of the new exterior walls, repairs to the existing concrete columns and beams, site visits, core penetrations for piping, roof screen wall, slab and masonry infill, expansion joints, and construction administration during the work. Work also included revising the entry porch and steps, adding a new ramp, addition of new canopy in the back, removal of existing stair and addition of new stair with new elevator. Further, work included new infill in the existing courtyard area at the first floor with new skylight at the roof level, the addition of support for new roof mechanical equipment, and new generator enclosure added on the ground level.
